As a professional with a background in GIS and data analysis, I have a passion for new technologies and years of experience working with spatial information systems and data ingest. My expertise in data collection, transformation, ingestion, and validation, as well as relational database, has allowed me to gain a comprehensive understanding of the entire data flow from raw data to valuable business insights based on user stories that companies prioritize. My experience has also enabled me to extract the value that customers focus on from the data.
Through this experience, I have developed a keen interest in the world of backend development and databases. While using Java to automate and manipulate data, I realized the importance of learning data structures and algorithms to effectively utilize system resources. Additionally, I am intrigued by how frontend interfaces connect with backend databases through API. To explore this, I taught myself web development and created several small projects that showcased my skills in both frontend and backend development and how they integrate.
As a backend software engineer at Amazon, I further honed my skills in designing and implementing systems that enable communication and interaction between different services using various cloud-based development components and tools. This experience has allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of using cloud platforms to deploy, test, monitor, and maintain system stability and availability. I developed and implemented a data ingest service that pre-processed raw data from a
public agency's services and
integrated it with internal geo-database for Apple Maps end-users. Using PostgreSQL, I created and
converted
raw data into
proper formats and categorized them by database schema, country code, address, geographical features,
etc. for
decoupling. I also utilized the Neutron Data
Model (NDM) Processor service to convert spatial and non-spatial data into the database in JSON format,
modified and patched datasets, and applied the Spectrum Rule Engine to validate core datasets and fix if
necessary. Additionally, I conducted QA/QC
processes for large datasets using an internal tool, Fusion X, and fixed multiple tickets for data
validations,
modifications, and debugging.
